About Me
|
|
I take my inspiration from nature and
look at basket weaving not only as a craft, but also an art, creating
pieces that do not have to have a function other than to please the senses.
I work mainly with natural materials,
but every now and again I go back to my roots. I grew up in Africa, and
have always been fascinated by the incredible use of natural fibres, and
recycling of man-made items; the use of vibrant colours and bold patterns.
In July 2007 I completed a 4 year City
and Guilds Course, in London, in Creative Basketry, taught by some of the leading
basketmakers in the UK. I am a member of the Basketmakers Association and
The Visual Images Group. I am also an associate member of the
Oxfordshire Craft Guild and member of
Basketry Plus and the Oxfordshire Basketmakers.

Some of these pieces were commissioned, some were inspired
by nature, but all were created to have no specific purpose other than to
please the senses.

These pieces all draw on my time in Africa, some using
natural materials, others recycled; some using muted natural colours,
others bold and vivid colours and patterns. Some are functional,
others just for pleasure.
